Genesis 26-50

Isaac marries Rebekah and has two children, Esau and Jacob.

God promised that the older son will serve the younger son (Gen. 25:23).

Jacob deceives Esau into giving his birthright over to him. Jacob also deceives his father, Isaac, into giving his blessings to him.

Since Esau wanted to kill Jacob for what he did, Jacob fled into another land. There he was deceived into marrying someone he did not love, Leah. Later he also married Rachel.

Jacob had 12 children who later started the 12 tribes of Israel.

Jacobís name was changed by God to Israel (Gen. 35:9-10) signifying a major change in his role.

Joseph was Israelís favorite son because he was the first born of Rachel. Joseph had the gift of interpreting dreams.

- Was condemned to prison for doing what is right
